Itinerary
Day 1: Mekelle – Erta Ale Volcano
Morning drive from Mekelle into the Afar lowlands. Pass through dramatic desert landscapes and small Afar settlements. Lunch en route. In the afternoon, continue to the base camp of Erta Ale Volcano. Late evening hike (about 30–45 minutes) to the crater to witness the spectacular bubbling lava lake. Overnight camping near the volcano.

Day 2: Erta Ale – Dallol – Lake Assale
Early morning visit to the volcano crater for sunrise views. After breakfast, drive north to Dallol, the lowest point in Africa and one of the most surreal geothermal areas on Earth. Explore colorful mineral terraces, sulfur pools, and salt formations. Continue to Lake Assale to walk on the brilliant white salt flats and see traditional Afar salt mining. Overnight camping near the salt plains.

Day 3: Lake Assale – Mekelle
After breakfast, drive back to Mekelle through the Afar desert. Arrive in the afternoon, marking the end of the tour.
