Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Fly to Arba Minch – Dorze Village
Morning flight from Addis Ababa to Arba Minch. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and drive to the Dorze village in the Guge Mountains. Visit their iconic elephant-shaped bamboo houses and learn about their traditional weaving and enset (false banana) food preparation. Return to Arba Minch for relaxation.
Overnight: Lodge in Arba Minch
Day 2: Arba Minch – Konso – Turmi (Hamer Tribe)
Drive south through spectacular landscapes to the Konso cultural village, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for terraced farming and wooden ancestral statues. Continue to Turmi, home of the Hamer tribe. In the afternoon, visit a Hamer village and experience their daily life and traditions.
Overnight: Lodge or camp in Turmi
Day 3: Turmi – Karo Tribe – Omo River – Turmi
Morning excursion to the Karo tribe settlement along the Omo River. The Karo are famous for intricate body painting and scarification. Enjoy cultural interaction and photography. Return to Turmi. If timing allows, witness a traditional Hamer ceremony or evening market.
Overnight: Lodge or camp in Turmi
Day 4: Turmi – Dassanech Tribe – Omorate – Turmi
Drive to Omorate and cross the Omo River by local boat to visit the Dassanech tribe. Explore their riverside villages and learn about their pastoral lifestyle. Return to Turmi in the afternoon.
Overnight: Lodge or camp in Turmi
Day 5: Turmi – Arba Minch – Fly to Addis Ababa
Early drive back to Arba Minch. Afternoon flight to Addis Ababa. End of the tour.
