Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Drive to Bale Mountains (Dinsho)
Depart Addis Ababa in the morning and drive south through scenic countryside to Dinsho, the headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park. Stop along the way for lunch and photo breaks. Upon arrival, enjoy a short afternoon hike to spot mountain nyala and explore the park surroundings.
Overnight: Lodge / Guesthouse in Dinsho
Day 2: Dinsho – Gaysay Valley Exploration
After breakfast, explore the Gaysay Valley, one of the best areas for wildlife viewing. Enjoy guided walks through grasslands and forests where you may see mountain nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck, warthogs, and various bird species.
Overnight: Lodge / Guesthouse in Dinsho
Day 3: Sanetti Plateau – Afro-Alpine Trek
Drive up to the breathtaking Sanetti Plateau (over 4,000m above sea level). Spend the day hiking across the Afro-alpine moorlands, home of the endangered Ethiopian wolf and giant mole-rats. Enjoy panoramic mountain views and unique high-altitude scenery.

Day 4: Sanetti – Harenna Forest
Descend from the high plateau into the lush Harenna Forest, a dramatic transition from alpine moorlands to dense tropical forest. Take a guided forest walk to see waterfalls, ancient trees, and diverse birdlife. This area is known for its mystical atmosphere and biodiversity.
Overnight: Lodge near Harenna Forest
Day 5: Harenna Forest – Community Visit
In the morning, continue exploring the forest trails. Later, visit a local highland village to experience traditional lifestyles, farming practices, and cultural hospitality. Optional coffee ceremony experience.

Day 6: Bale Mountains – Return to Addis Ababa
After breakfast, drive back to Addis Ababa with scenic stops along the way. Arrive in the late afternoon. End of the tour.
